Philadelphia is a great city for someone who likes beer - there are a number of great beer bars, including some very good Belgian cafes (one, Monk's, was the first bar in the US to have Chimay on draft). Now,many local bars, evenaverage sports bars, willkeep a good belgian beer, Chimay, even Duvel, on draft. There are also quite a fewexcellent breweries local to Philadelphia, including Yards, which may be the most well known local brewery, and Victory, which is the best of the lot. The brewery is 37 miles away from Rittenhouse.

The beerpictured above,"Victory Golden Monkey" is a Belgian-style Triple Ale, 9.6% ABV -I've had it ondraft at the Royal Tavern in Bella Vista, andin six-packs sold in NJ. It tastes like a less austere, slightly sweet champagne, and it has a massive kick. Smells like quince marmalade. Good with food. It's also a bit like a richer Delirium Tremens. The 10% ABV rolls you over very quickly. $9.99 per 6 pack. My highest recommendation. 18 stars.
