Well, the end of summer is approaching fast. It is already the middle of god damn August. The summer has flown by far far far too fast. Actually, the past three years have been a complete blur.
My application for my apartment was approved today.. I am really displeased with how my housing situation has played out. First it was the mess with not wanting to live with Wilson and Levres.. then I finally found a cool roommate and we got a sweet apartment.. then he told me he was moving to colorado (failed out) and I got rid of my apartment.. then I went through hell finding an apartment, but I even found a roommate.
But I am yet to be satisfied. The roommate I found didnt send in any application materials, so right now I am the only one on the lease. That is only a minor problem since I can find a roommate VERY VERY VERY easily.
Today, after I got confirmation of my approval, I called and scheduled the electricity transfer over to me (the electricity doesnt go into my name until 3 days after I move in.. so you can bet that the A/C will be on max.. gotta test that A/C, ya know?). I also got telephone service.. which was interesting. I think I picked the best number they gave me the choice of (they listed a bunch of options).
Then I called AT&T Broadband. It was a bitch to get the number, I ended up calling the apartment complex and they gave me the number. I had checked online, and the web site says that there is nothing available in my area.. not even regular cable. But I called them anyway, since thats who I was told to call. I talk to the guy, and he knows digital tv is available for sure, but couldnt check about cable internet.. but I couldn't order anything anyway since the previous tenant left debt on their bill.
So I can't order anything from AT&T until I go up to Northampton, MA to the AT&T office and show them my lease and photo id. On top of all of this, there is a chance that I won't be able to get broadband. That sucks.
Regardless, I'll end up on a dialup modem for a week or two until cable is installed, if I can get it... grrr. I fucking can't even watch tv at home during that time!
I will say that I DONT want digital cable tv.. that shit is expensive.. $55/month includes the HBO channels. Regular cable is $20/mo (not including HBO). What sort of bullshit is that.
I don't know what I'm going to do... bleh.
At least I have a place to live though.. there are a lot of people who are going to be homeless for a bit early next month.. there are close to a thousand too many kids trying to be on campus that won't have a room. So me bitching about not having high speed access is sort of silly.. but it will be real hard to go back to dialup.. which is something I haven't been on for several years.
