Dunno if you've all been keeping up, but the Republicans slaughtered the Democrats last night. Kept the House, gained Senate seats (more than enough to completely break any standoffs), and they look like they're going to control exactly 50% of the Governor positions in America. That means there are fewer Governors as Republicans now, than there were before - used to be 27 Republicans, 21 Democrats, 2 Independents, and now it's 25/25. However, almost everyone was predicting that there'd be a huge gap, more like 28 Democrats 22 Republicans.

All of this was unexpected, since there are almost always losses for the President's party during midterm elections. Now the Republicans have complete control of the Congress, which brings with it control over judicial appointments and a few other important things...Saddam Hussein is probably weeping right now. Good news, I think, considering what's going on in the world right now, where the US is, so on. Deadlock was the last thing we needed.
