Reverb is on right now.. Disturbed/Mudvayne/Cold are on the screen right now (whichever one does "... down with the sickness..."). The reason I bring this up is because I am basically seeing this type of band for the first time. Oh, its Disturbed says the subtitle. I don't really know what type of music this is actually, but I hear it on the radio all the time. But its very much like the pop shit from britney/whomever. Only in that there are a lot of electronics involved. The guitars/bass have these insane pickups (can you buy guitars in a store with pickups like that??). And it appears they have orchestrated instrument effects. What would a cover band sound like? Or would they have to buy the equipment to sound like the original band?
I have been up since 8am, yet I am up real late. What the fuck am I doing? I just tried an experiment with my lava lamp. Now.. a few days ago, I shook the lava lamp. No one told me that breaks it. So, I looked online to see if i could find out how to fix it. I found nada. I found some information about what was in them.. all theories by folks. The basic idea behind most of the theories is that the lava is a basic compound, not a mixture of compounds.. so if you shake it, you're not going to fuck the balance right? So why should it break. Well, it seemed to be from the air in the bottle. I dont know why the hell there is air there, but my conspiracy theory says that its to make them break. Over time, these things start working less and less. Plus air gets in as the liquid evaporates due to a poor seal. But as the lava licks the surface, it brings down air bubbles.. by me shaking, i made this happen faster. so the lava oxidized on me. But its a basic compound, and its not going to magically merge with the oxygen.. so i gotta be able to undo it.
So, I figured.. throw it in some hot water. So I threw a pot on the stove, filled it with water.. threw the lava lamp in.. turned up the heat. It took a while (15 minutes or so) for me to heat it. I didn't have any clue what was in the glass at this point (i only really looked into finding other people's guides on fixing it after i did it myself), and i didnt wanna get it too hot.. and there is an alcohol (like gasoline) in there it seems. So if you do this, turn the heat up gradually. I don't really feel like testing out how hot you can make it. I did not immerse the entire bottle in the water. I didn't feel like waiting for a large pot ot heat up. I would guess that a big pot is better. If I were doing this 'right', i would probably put some sort of thing between teh glass and the bottom of the pot.. something to absorb some of the strong heat on the surface of the post. I really think that the glass could take a lot of heat tho, it is meant to be on a hot lamp.
After it all sank to the bottom again, there was some yellowing colouring up top in the air bubbles. I think the side effect for my 'fixing' method is basically you lose colour. The colouring also will cloud the lamp. I can't think of any way to fix the lamp tho.. but it seems to work.. I'll test it better another night.
Oh yea, and the barenaked ladies are sort of odd looking.. they look regular. Sort of dopey lookin' actually. Insomniac Music Theatre.. *sigh*.
