Let's look to Guns N' Roses for some more wisdom, shall we?
One In A Million, by Guns N' RosesGuess I needed sometime to get away
I needed some piece of mind
Some piece of mind that'll stay
So I thumbed it down to Sixth and L.A.
Maybe a Greyhound could be my wayPolice and Niggers, that's right
Get out of my way
Don't need to buy none of your
Gold chains today
I don't need no bracelets
Clamped in front of my back
Just need my ticket; 'til then
Won't you cut me some slack? You're one in a million
Yeah, that's what you are
You're one in a million, babe
You're a shooting star
Maybe someday we'll see you
Before you make us cry
You know we tried to reach you
But you were much too high
Much too high, much too high,
Much too high, yes, ow!Immigrants and faggots
They make no sense to me
They come to our country
And think they'll do as they please
Like start some mini Iran,
Or spread some fuckin' disease
They talk so many goddamn ways
It's all Greek to meWell some say I'm lazy
And others say that's just me
Some say I'm crazy
I guess I'll always be
But it's been such a long time
Since I knew right from wrong
It's all the means to an end, I
I keep it movin' alongYou're one in a million
Oo, you're a shooting star
You're one in a million, babe
You know that you are
Maybe someday we'll see you, Oo
oh, Before you make us cry
You know we tried to reach you
But you were much too high
Much too high, Oo, much too high
Yeah,
Much too high, huh, no, no, oh
Ow!Radicals and Racists
Don't point your finger at me
I'm a small town white boy
Just tryin' to make ends meet
Don't need your religion
Don't watch that much T.V.
Just makin' my livin', baby
Well that's enough for me
And so forth. Guns N' Roses sucks. You could've picked a better band to illustrate your pro-peace message, or whatever you believe in.
And "Look, at some point things deteriorated between us. What can we do to help restore your faith in us?" (said here)? Are you joking? That might be the tack we'd take if, say, a British public official made a mildly disparaging remark about our country. We didn't have a falling out with the terrorists. They weren't brusque with us. We're not mildly worried about what the world's terrorists think of us. They ambushed our country in an attempt to slaughter lots and lots of U.S. civilians.
There's a reason why, say, in a recent British poll asking whether or not England should support US military action, 65% of those polled responded in the affirmative. Because we're right. This isn't the sort of situation that merits the extension of white handkerchiefs and the proffering of tea and sandwiches, so as to foster a polite and reasoned discussion. We're going to take strong preventative measures by moving firmly against any and all terrorist states (at least, that's the idea). And, I think it's a fine idea. The rest of the world, hopefully, is starting to see what Israel goes through every day.
I'm politically liberal, as you all know - but I have to say that I'm sickened and confused by the sheer amount of ignorant anti-zionist bullshit flowing forth from much of the left-wing media. And, no, the New York Times doesn't count - I'm talking about magazines like the Nation, Dissent, and all that. It's enough to make a guy start subscribing to Commentary.
