Damn, Aaron, I expected some Dark Knight impressions from you by now. Spo, Mike, Devlin?
Spo - I actually haven't read through 4th ed yet. Sad, right? I dunno. I had a bad first impression of it - the lame new races, the new rule where people all have automatic HP-boosts, or whatever they're called (are those power boosts?). It did feel like they were turning D&D into Everquest (I've never played World of Warcraft). Outside of that, I dunno, super-simple role playing games don't interest me that much. I like getting into the complexities of new rules, and it didn't seem like there was anything in there for me to bite my teeth into. I bet I'd like it if I started playing it, but I'm not really excited about going through the book until I actually foresee an opportunity to run it. However, my girlfriend has been reading through it, and she thinks it looks neat, so I may end up being able to run something sooner than I thought.
The two games I've actually been thinking about most are Call of Cthulhu and Rolemaster. Call of Cthulhu, just because I'm probably becoming less violent in my old age, and I feel like playing something slower and more intellectual. On the other hand, if I ran Rolemaster, it'd be a super-gritty ultra-violent low-magic game, like Conan or Warhammer Fantasy.
I don't know about Manny. Even at $20 mil, I think he's still going to represent value for the money...but he's been acting like a fucking lunatic, even more than usual. Maybe he just wants to leave? What do you think?
