Newtown

Following the events of the Trayvon Martin case at the beginning of this year, I wrote a serious piece where I said the following:

I have never been, nor do I ever expect to be, an advocate for firearm bans – a position that runs counter to most of my stances and is especially curious to many since I have never even handled a gun. … Yet, even in the face of school shootings, drug wars, suicides, and other atrocities committed with guns, I still don’t support gun bans. Perhaps, like several of my other ethical positions, I would prefer to get to the root of the problem and fix that – I don’t know.

President Obama came to Newtown for a vigil, where he gave a decent speech about the tragedy that took probably the youngest set of lives so far. In it, he said the following:

We will be told that the causes of such violence are complex, and that is true. No single law, no set of laws can eliminate evil from the world or prevent every senseless act of violence in our society, but that can’t be an excuse for inaction – surely we can do better than this. If there’s even one step we can take to save another child or another parent or another town from the grief … then surely we have an obligation to try.

It pains me greatly to say this but what happened in Newtown jarred my view. I am deeply against banning anything because I think it’s reactionary and doesn’t solve problems. However, my “pain” isn’t anywhere near comparable to what the parents of those children, the friends and families of the adults must be going through. Is clinging to the right to bear arms an excuse for inaction? Do statistics about gun ownership and other countries with tougher or lax gun laws even matter at this point? I am working through this but my inner debate leads me to believe that I’m probably going to ease up on my anti-gun-ban stance in the coming weeks.

Regardless of that, one thing that I hope *for sure* comes from this is a complete redefinition of how we view mental illness in the United States. I have a sibling with a mental illness and one of the most frustrating things I’ve encountered is how a lack of funding means only two possible outcomes: mental hospital or jail. My sibling recently had a long streak of being okay end – we’re talking several years – and it ended abruptly. There was no change of medication (in fact, I think for those several years, no medication was being taken) so clearly it had to have been something that happened yet no doctor wants to spend any time talking about the cause: it’s fifteen minutes and then you either get sent on your way or you get a prescription. It’s a sickening timeline. This article does a pretty good job of pointing out the seriousness of the issue:

Have a good evening and be safe.

Let’s stop turning men into pussies.

4th Grader Punished For Bringing 2-Inch Lego Gun To School
“A tiny toy led to big trouble for one fourth-grade New York City boy.

Patrick Timoney, a 9-year-old student at PS 52 in Staten Island, N.Y., was in the school cafeteria Tuesday playing with LEGOs when he was taken to the principal’s office and threatened with suspension. One of his toys was a LEGO policeman that holds a 2-inch plastic gun. The school has a no-tolerance policy when it comes to toy guns.”

Are we so determined to turn the next generation of men into sniveling pussies that we can’t even let little boys play with Lego guns? Really? I say our society has been demonizing masculinity for long enough. Men are not women. Women are (theoretically) beautiful, nurturing, sensitive creatures. Men are aggressive and enjoy violence, because sometimes shit just needs to get done. It’s in our genes. When we’re children, we blow off steam by playing with toys. Forcing boys to not play with “violent” toys out of a fear of future violent behavior is like forcing boys to not masterbate out of a fear of future rapes; by taking away the testosterone release valve you’re begging for the awful behavior you want to avoid. I say let boys play with toy guns and beat off, so they can grow up to be healthy men that know how to protect and satisfy their women.

And while we’re talking about the pussification of men, what’s the story with men actively watching American Idol? I regularly see men posting on Facebook about who they’re rooting for on American Idol and it makes me clinch my asshole. It forces me to watch scenes from Predator on youtube to regain respect for my gender. Is it no longer politically correct for men to like sports? Has karaoke replaced sports as an acceptable male competition interest? Or, have men in our society been so neutered that we’re just surrendering our balls?

The irony is that the women/gay guys who are forcing this cultural shift are not sexually attracted to the pussified assholes that they’re creating; they still get hot watching men act like men, because they’re wired to. Tonight I’m going to lift some weights before drinking vodka, playing loud Zeppelin riffs on my guitar, and watching a violent movie. My girlfriend will casually complain about it but she’s not fooling anybody. She loves it.

Grow a Pair America

“Vigilantism is never a good thing,” said Bernard Gonzales, public information officer for the Chula Vista, California, Police Department. He’s had some interactions with real-life superheroes. “The very best thing a private citizen can do is be a good witness.” from the article found here on CNN:

http://www.cnn.com/2009/LIVING/06/04/real.life.superheroes/index.html

This fucking guy, typical cop, oh we can handle this citizen, don’t get in our way. FUCK YOU! while some fucking douche cop is giving out speeding tickets three blocks away a child is being kidnapped, a women being raped, or a man being murdered. where are you then tough guy?

and what if there was someone, seeing this happen, watching as some crime unfolds….really the best thing to do it watch and wait for a cop? that way you can tell him the make and model of the car that just drove off with a 7 year old screaming on her way to being turned into a cum dumpster for some half retarded scum fuck who cant make it with a women.

now im not saying we should all get costumes and go patrol the streets, but, if you happen upon a crime in progress, you should try and stop it. what happened to people helping people?

most of the time, all that you would have to do is walk up and be like…what the fuck are you doing pal? and thats going to end whatever is happening.

anyway, thats it….
